About Karmen Jones
Let me introduce Karmen Jones, our certified nurse midwife (CNM) who comes to Temecula Valley OB/GYN with more than 20 years’ experience. She attended San Diego State University for her bachelor’s degree in Nursing and received her master’s degree in Midwifery from University of California, San Francisco. Many ask what is a certified nurse midwife? A certified nurse midwife (CNM) is a health provider who is an advanced practice registered nurse that provides gynecologic services, manages reproductive health, delivers babies in labor and delivery, provides postpartum care and peri/post menopause care.
Over the years, she has practiced in many different settings from a small private practice where she did deliveries at a rural hospital including a free-standing birth center to a large tertiary care center, being the administrative nurse midwife over 17 CNM’s and 5 NP’s while she practiced full scope midwifery. She believes that midwifery is her “calling” and she embodies the meaning of a midwife which is “the one that is with women and assists to bring forth life”.
She has a daughter and enjoys spending time with her and the rest of her family. Her happy place is swimming, traveling, and cooking a meal for the people she loves. What she cherishes the most about midwifery is welcoming new babies into the world. She often says that the day she does not love midwifery anymore is the day she retires. One of her mottos is “be kinder than necessary”.
